Buxton is a Spa Town in Derbyshire ,in the East Midlands of England . Elevation is 1000ft [ 300m ] above sea level. It is a market town, gateway to the Peak District National Park. A landmark is the Cresent, built between 1780 and 1784, it was under repair when i visited. The Devonshire Dome in Devonshire Road is Europes largest unsupported dome. It dates from 1779. Its diameter is 144ft.
St. Peters Rome is 138 ft, and St. Pauls London 112ft. Entry is free. The Pooles Cavern is a limestone cavern
open to the public.,i enjoyed my visit. St Anns Well Fountain is fed by geothermal springs. I saw people filling containers with the water.
Nestles bottle the water in Buxton. The Old Hall Hotel is one of the oldest in Buxton, Mary Queen of Scots stayed here.-- Buxton is on the river Wye.. A person from Buxton is called a"Buxtonian" The nearest airport is Manchester 22 miles away.
